About Us

Global Health Frontline News (GHFN) is a special reporting unit of Cielo Productions, Inc. that addresses the stark disparity in resources dedicated to the coverage of global health stories relative to their impact on humanity.

Our mission is to produce high-quality news coverage of under-reported stories on a wide range of global health issues including HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, polio, neglected tropical diseases, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and food security - and to distribute our stories worldwide.

GHFN is based on an emerging new journalism model: a nonprofit news venture funded entirely by philanthropic donations, focused on a region or topic, and partnering with larger, established news media outlets to provide additional in-depth coverage and distribution.

Following this model, GHFN’s editors seek compelling global health stories and assign experienced newsgathering crews to produce well-crafted, engaging news reports from the front lines. Through a global distribution network, GHFN provides its reports free of charge to leading news organizations selected to maximize the impact of its coverage.

GHFN's goal is to be the trusted provider of quality, in-depth global health news coverage. We believe that addressing global health challenges is a moral imperative of our time and that building awareness is the key to reaching new supporters and continuing to motivate existing supporters.

Major funding for Global Health Frontline News has been provided by John Moores Sr., New Venture Fund, and the United Nations Foundation.
